Pex Piping Or Pex Tubing connects by using insert fittings and crimp rings and they must be crimped using a special tool and in this lesson we will tell you how to make a pex connection.
Step One:
The first step is to get your roll of pex or stick of pex and make sure you have a clean and straight cut end, and what we mean by clean end is an end that is free of crushes, or deformed in some way. In most cases you will just want to take your pex cutters and just cut a small piece off the end so you will have that fresh clean cut.
Step Two:
Now that you have the end of the tubing cut you will want to grab a pex crip ring and slide that on to the pex tubing.
Step Three:
Now that you have the end cut, the pex ring on the tubing, you will now want to take your fitting or valve and insert it into the pex, making sure that the fitting goes completely into the pex tubing. You may have to twist the fitting side to side as you push it in to make sure it does slide all the way in and this is one of the reasons you want that clean end.
Step Four:
You can now take your pex ring and slide in about an 1/8″ from the end of the pex tubing and then using your pex crimp ring tool you can crimp the pex tubing ring.
Step Five:
Give you crimp an inspection to make sure the ring crimped evenly and that nothing is wrong with the fitting and pipe, and off course after you turn the line on and make it live, make sure you come back and look for any visible leaks.
