Everyone needs to do laundry and walking or even driving to the laundromat can be a real hassle unless you just go for the conversation, but either way there will come a time when you will need to know how to hook up your washing machine.
Step One:
There will be three connections you will need to make when hooking up your washing machine, you will need to hook up the hot and cold water supply as well as hooking up the washing machine drain line. In the next steps we will tell you what tools you will need to hook up your washing machine plumbing and also how to do so.
Step Two:
You will need a few tools to hook up the water lines and the drain line, to hook up the water lines you will need a pair of regular size channel locks. You will also need a small open end wrench to adjust the washing machine legs and a level to level the machine once its all hooked up, and also a flat head screwdriver to tighten down a hose clamp on the waste line in the back of the machine.
Step Three:
You will now what to connect the washing machine hoses to the back of the machine and then to the valves that are on your wall. These hoses are almost like outdoor garden hoses in the sense that the hook up the same way. What you will need to watch out for is to make sure you have hooked up the hot and cold water lines to the right spot on the washing machine and also make sure that the cold hose is hooked up the the cold valve and the hot hose is hooked up to the hot valve and so on. Once you have connected the hoses give each hose connection about a half of turn past hand tight to ensure that they are tight and will not leak. If a half turn does not do it and the hoses still feel loose or not tight give them a few more turns until they are tight.
Step Four:
Once you have your water lines hooked up and tightened down you will now want to connect your drain line to the back of the washing machine. This will usually involve tightening down a hose clamp to the hose or even sometimes they will give you a spring loaded hose clamp that you can use a pair of channel locks to put this clamp on. Either way place the discharge washing machine hose on the back of the machine and then tighten down the clamp. Once you have done that you will want to stick the other end of the hose into your drain pipe that should be located right near your water lines. Once you have done both of these things your drain line is now hooked up.
Step Five:
Now that you have your water lines and drain line hooked up to your washing machine, you will now want to level it out so when it hits the spin cycle it will not walk or dance across the floor. To Level your washing machine simply place the level on top of the washing machine and using your adjustable wrench spin the adjustment legs up or down until the washing machine is level from side to side and also from back to front.
