What is a pool filter pressure gauge?

Your Swimming pool filter will have something on it called a “pressure gauge”. These gauges can be found in different places depending on the brand and the model of the pool filter.

The pressure gauge is there for many reasons and the most important reason being that it shows the internal pressure of the filter tank.

Lets make that a bit more simple to understand and let me explain it like this, The swimming pool filter tank is only designed to hold so much pressure before the tank or the plumbing fittings on the tank will start to fail and in turn that means you will have some really nasty water leaks.

So know that you know why the filter gauge is there I will explain to you how to protect your swimming pool filter by using your handy dandy gauge to keep the tank at the proper pressure at all times.

Most pool filters will come with an operations guide that will tell you how many lbs or how much pressure your filter tank should have in it but when the swimming pool pump is running.

The best way to keep the filter pressure at its best when you are using your pool during the season is to back wash the filter at least once a week, If you have a cartridge filter you may have to clean the filter more often to keep the tank pressure down.
